Enabling better patient access while reducing admin burden
Our story
We've all had the frustrating experience of calling our doctor's office to schedule an appointment. You wait on hold for 15 minutes and when you're finally connected, you get transferred to a different department. We figured there had to be a better way.
Parakeet Health started in 2023 as Large Language Models (LLMs) like OpenAI's GPT-4 were reaching a point where they could handle a wide range of repetitive, time-consuming phone tasks that healthcare practices deal with every day.
"AI" phone agents aren't new, but in the past, they've caused more harm than help due to their rigid rules-based design. If you don't define one of 200 scenarios, it all breaks down.
Today, the technology has finally caught up to the problems and we're using AI to make the patient experience dramatically better.
We understand healthcare and AI
Parakeet Health co-founders Eric Mao (CPO), Jung Park (CEO), and Aaron Lee (CTO)
Healthcare is difficult. We understand the operational complexities and the technological capabilities of AI.
Jung has spent the last 20+ years in healthcare leading operations at One Medical, Epocrates, and California's largest dermatology practice.
Eric launched natural language processing (NLP) applications used by companies like NBC and Starbucks before ChatGPT was a thing. He also worked at Microsoft using AI to generate PowerPoint slides.
At Rippling, Aaron made complex interview scheduling a breeze to set up for end-users by leveraging AI. Before that, he scaled globally distributed systems at Twitter.
